What determines the sex of your baby?
Timing of intercourse
Sperm that carries the X chromosome is responsible for conceiving a girl. It has a longer life span compared to the one that carries a Y chromosome. Also, the male sperm that carries a Y chromosome has a higher mobility compared to the one that carries the X chromosome. A woman who knows when she will ovulate has a better chance to determine the baby's gender. Sperms reach the fallopian tube between 20 minutes and 2hours and will remain viable for about 4-7 days.
Having sex intercourse closer to the ovulation day increases the probability of giving birth to a baby boy.
If you want to have a girl, having intercourse earlier or before ovulation increases the probability of a girl. The female chromosome has a longer life, thus having intercourse 4 days before the ovulation day will ensure that the Y chromosome expires, giving the X chromosome a chance to wait in the fallopian tube and fertilize the egg. When the X chromosome fertilizes the egg, a girl will be conceived.
