Be careful of these chemicals....
When it comes to cosmetics as well as body care products, there are many different types that are available for women to choose from. Sadly, many of these cosmetics while they can help to make a woman look and smell good can be full of toxic chemicals. Some of these chemicals have a strong link to the increase of the risk of cancer due to use of these chemicals.
One toxic ingredient that women should look for in their personal care and grooming products is phthalates. Phthalates are a group of chemicals that are used in products to help keep them soft and flexible. Phthalates are also used to help products to cling to the skin, hair and nails to make the products last longer when used, They can be found in many products such as hair spray, shampoo, conditioner, nail polish and perfumes to name a few. Phthalates mimic estrogen and also disrupt the endocrine system which increase the risk of cancer. Phthalates are typically hidden under the term “fragrance”. Parabens are another major offender. Parabens are chemicals that are used to preserve products and inhibit bacteria growth. Parabens have been found to mimic estrogen as well as interfere with hormone production. Studies have shown that 99 percent of women with breast cancer were found to have parabens in their body tissues. Parabens have been found to bind to estrogen receptors in the body which increases the risk of cancer when they are used. Triclosan is yet another one. This chemical is typically found in antibacterial products such as soaps, body washes and toothpastes. This chemical is also known to disrupt the endocrine system and lead to cancer.
The aforementioned are the most common and major offenders. Women should avoid use of products with these ingredients to reduce their risk of cancer.
