Pampering yourself after having a baby


Now that you have a new baby in the house, whether it is your first or your third, does not mean you should not tend to your own needs. Many moms after having a baby feel like they have to give up all personal comfort. While it is true that tending to a baby takes up a lot of personal time, it is still important to carve out a little time for yourself. Doing so cannot only keep you feeling good but make you a better mom as well.

One way to pamper yourself after having a baby is to make sure you get a good amount of sleep as often as possible, even if this means taking a nap while baby sleeps. If possible, you can make some bottles with pumped breastmilk and/or formula, this way, in case you need a nap while baby is awake, someone else can feed them. Also, Invest in a more comfortable bed and bedding if you can to have the most comfortable rest when napping or sleeping. Indulging in new sleepwear and robes in soft and gentle fabrics can also make you feel like a pampered princess.

Eating delicious yet nutrient dense foods will make a huge difference. Having someone to help by preparing you some delicious meals and serve them to you can make you feel great. Going out to breakfast, lunch or dinner can be refreshing as well, especially if you go out with friends. Getting out of the house can work wonders and help you to feel rejuvenated.

Make sure to continue your salon treatments. Getting a rejuvenating wash, blow dry and style can help you feel polished and put together. Perhaps getting a new hair style and/or treatments like highlights can make you feel like a new person as well. Don’t forget about a mani and pedi too. Nicely cared for nails and toes with a fresh coat of polish makes any woman feel good about herself.

Massages are also a nice treat, as they help to relieve stress and relax the body. Have a friend or your partner take care of your baby while you relax so you to not feel guilty about leaving your baby out of your sight.

Don't forget about at home treatments! Indulging in scented luxury items such as soaps, sugar scrubs, lotions, and salt soaks can take your bath time to a new level. Certain scents especially aromatherapy scents can help you to feel relaxed, rejuvenated or energized and can also make you feel good when you can’t head to the salon for a treatment.

These are just some of the ways that you can feel pampered after having a baby. Keep in mind that taking time to pamper yourself is important for your own personal health and will transfer over into your role as a mother and help you adjust to your new baby.
